Ponds and Water Features
Our watergarden centre has a large range of pond fish, waterplants and Japanese Koi. We have a large range of products to help you construct a simple water feature or a state of the art Koi pond. Our 10 years of experience with the industry's leading manufacturer Oase has led to our appointment as one of the North of England's premier dealers.
Our outdoor display area has numerous working displays from water features such as bubbling urns and drilled boulders to garden ponds with fountains and waterfalls. Having a successful watergarden isn't just about getting the right products, it's essential to get the right advice. Some of our staff have more than 20 years commercial experience which they're more than happy to pass on.
Pond Plants
We are very particular about the quality and variety of our water plants and our supplier knows that we demand only the very best. We have a large variety of hardy plants available during the Spring and Summer (March to September).
The variety of water plants we have available can be separated into 4 categories
Water Lilies: We usually have up to 20 different types of water lily in stock from true miniatures such as Pygmy rubra to stunning larger lilies such as William Falconer and Pink sensation. These plants provide essential cover and shade for a garden pond helping to limit excess sunlight and algal growth.
Marginals: These are the shallow water plants for the edge of the pond and we'll have as many as 50 varieties at the height of the season. Varieties include Marsh Marigolds, Bullrushes, Water forget-me-not, Irises, etc.
Oxygenators: These plants are absolutely essential to create the biological balance. In addition to providing Oxygen these plants also consume excess nutrients and effectively starve out algae.
Floating plants: These plants perform a similar function to water lilies shading the pool from excess sunlight. Water Hyacinths, Lettuce and Soldiers are all available from mid May.
Fish
We keep all the common varieties; Goldfish, Sarasa Comets, Shubunkins, Golden Orfe, Green and Gold Tench as well as a good selection of Koi and more unusual pond fish such as Rudd and Sterlets. Our Japanese style feature Koi pond houses personally selected Japanese Koi (up to 20") and we have further holding tanks for smaller Koi during the Spring and Summer.
We have a wealth of experience in not only buying good fish but also looking after and treating fish when they are ill. We can advise you on what equipment you need, how to care for and how to treat fish if the need arises. We also pride ourselves in ensuring that you don't overstock your pond. Overstocking leads to water quality problems and disease outbreak.
